(Corona, CA) The California valleys are a mixture of dedicated farms and
suburban sprawl. This is the same type of divergent pressures that has
been driving buyers to select such uncommon vehicles as luxury equipped
sport utes and large four door performance sedans in recent years. Ford
has the measure of this trend with the full size, four-door/short bed
F150 SuperCrew, and will soon follow with the Explorer based SportTrac,
and the Navigator styled Blackwood. Each will carry at least four
persons comfortably, and still handle lots of oversize or dirty
cargo.
"The
F-150 SuperCrew adds more versatility and innovation to the Ford
F-Series lineup by offering customers a choice they can't find anywhere
else in the full-size pickup market. SuperCrew seats up to six adult
passengers comfortably, without sacrificing its work-truck capability,"
points out Gurminder Bedi, Vice President, Ford North America
Truck.
The
new 2001-model Ford F-150 SuperCrew is the only under-8500-pound gross
vehicle weight truck in its class with four full-size doors and a full
rear passenger compartment. It also is the only pickup on the market
with power adjustable pedals, a strong indication that market research
has finally convinced Ford that lots of smaller women are often behind
the wheel of their cargo haulers.
Homeowners buy more light duty full size pickups than corporate users,
and SuperCrew is a great compromise. Many folks are moving out of SUVs
after some dissatisfaction and those who want more utility are bound to
look closely at this configuration.
